Rebuilding

Hi Blog followers! :)

Thank you for checking back in with the Peas Family as they are still dealing with the loss of their home on Dec 23, 2008.

After much discussion, deliberation, frustration and determination the Peas Family home was demolised by Eads on Mon Feb 9 and Tues Feb 10... This was a victory for the Peas Family to be able to rebuild the entire home and not to have to worry about mold, fire smell, water damage, etc. BUT it was also very emotional to have the home just simply leveled. The Eads crew did an excellent job and were very careful and "loving" with their huge pieces of equipment!

Pamela took the kids out to see the beginning of the demolition process and it brought tears to everyone's eyes as they saw their special Christmas tree being scooped into the bucket and swung into the dump truck. Jacklyn had a hard time seeing her piano go and there were Christmas decorations and a few recognizable toys making it hard for everyone. These days were definitely bittersweet.

The Lord says, "I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow." Jeremiah 31:13 As the Peas Family is saying goodbye to many of their earthly things let's be praying for them to feel the joy of the Lord.

Inventory

A HUGE thank you to all who helped with the inventory lists on Tue and Thu! We accomplished so much and the empty blanks on the list seem to be getting fewer and fewer! The combined effort was wonderful and we even had some fun just being together!

So... thanks so much to Lisa, Kelly, Beth, Amy, Denise, Jill, Marlea, and Mandy L. Your help and time are so much appreciated!!

Update

Hi Everyone!!

Sorry that it has been so long since a post. But much has happened so read on...

The Peas family has moved into the house they are renting and are trying to get settled. They have been there for almost 1 week. Living in the rental is making everything "sink in" and that has not been easy. Please pray for strength that can only come from the Lord. The facts of all that has happened are becoming even more real and it is difficult for Mark and Pam to sit and wait for the "red tape" to run its course...

One large undertaking they are having to deal with now is their inventory. This is a huge project and is taking much time to work on. The Peas must list every item they have lost in the fire and give accurate information regarding where it was purchased and what it cost to the insurance company. Again, please pray for patience and for this step of the process to go quickly and smoothly.

The tupperware party was a huge success for the Peas. They received many tupperware items to start to replace what they lost in the fire. Thank you so much for your generosity and your willingness to help them in this way.

God alone understands and God alone can bring peace. God alone can bring restoration. God alone can comfort and repair. Please be bringing the Peas Family before the throne of God alone as we petition Him for these things. He hears. He listens. He answers. Let's turn to Him and HIM ALONE for them. Thank you.

Setting up the Rental

Many of you are still asking for tangible ways to help Mark and Pam. Here are a couple of suggestions:

1. Teal Leming is having a Pampered Chef party for the Peas. You can order something to replace items the Peas lost in the fire, you can order something for yourself and Pam will get the host credit, or you can donate $ and Teal will purchase items for the Peas. You can reach Teal at 563-1311 or leming4@verizon.net to place an order. Teal is planning to close this party on January 26.

2. Mandy Hanback is having a Tupperware party in which you may do the same thing. Contact Mandy at 569-9484 or hanbacks5@yahoo.com. This party will close early next week.

Thank you so much!!

Back to School

Jacklyn, Jared and Jayden all went back to school today for the start of second semester. This was, of course, their first time back since the fire. Pam walked everyone in and got them settled to start the day.

The kids' classmates were very glad to see them and surrounded them with hugs. Many people assured Pam that she would be notified if there were any needs and the counselor asked if it was okay for him to check on the kids periodically, too. Everyone was wonderful.

All three kids seemed to do fine and getting back to some sense of "normal" will be good for them.

Please pray for them as they deal with the emotions that come with seeing so many people who love them all at once and their peers. Pray that God will guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

A Place to Live

Thank you to everyone who has extended gracious offers to the Peas Family for housing needs during this time. Many great offers were made for them and several people were even willing to uproot themselves so that Mark and Pam could have their place to live. The offers have been so generous and humbling for the family. Again, another outpouring of love and support. Thank you.

Mark and Pam have made the decision to rent Larry and Cindy Hoffman's house hopefully until they can move into their completed rebuilt house on 600E. Just knowing that there may be some stability and a sense of "place" for them will help with routine and functioning day to day as they move forward. Sharp Creek runs a bus route there and it is still close to school, church and town. They are hoping to be there by next week and are starting to gather the items they will need to set up a new residence (even if temporary)...

There is some furniture in the house right now and they will be using a blow up air mattress for a bed and plastic totes for clothes storage, etc.

Some new contact info is as follows:

1700 N Miami St
Wabash, IN 46992

This is the address of the rental home - anything sent to 1910 N 600 E Lagro, IN 46941 will still be delivered via the postal service forwarding system.

They will probably not set up a land phone line so cell #s are:

Mark 260-571-1761
Pamela 260-571-8070

email can be sent to peaspod4@yahoo.com

Let us be praying that the transition goes smoothly for Mark and Pam and especially for the kids. That God will have His gracious hand in every bit of this "settling" process for them as they look to the future with Him.
